We are not finding out the sex of the baby for a couple reasons.
1. It was a surprise for our parents and grandparents, so why not have it be a surprise for us. There are very few surprises in life so we should enjoy this one. (I will make the point here that there wasn't pain medication for my grandparents and great grandparents either, but that won't stop me from using it)
2. I don't remember who said this to me, but they make a great point. So far all of the attention has been on me, not Nick. I am blessed to have had an easy pregnancy so far, but he doesn't have to deal with a lot of the things I do, so OF COURSE the attention should be on me. One of the great things he will be able to do is be able to announce if the baby is a boy or girl, because I am sure I will not be in any condition to do so. So he gets to have a moment that will be really special for him. (His special moment will be a lot less painless and less messy than mine)
3. Not knowing has it's advantages, I won't get all blue or all pink items, and since everything is gender neutral, the next baby will be able to use it too.
So with us not knowing, and me being 7 months pregnant there has been a lot of speculation.
A. There is the "baby whisperer" Manuel. He is the night custodian at our school and can tell what a woman is having just by looking at her. The scary part is, he has a 90% accuracy rate.
B. A woman I work with at work swears that if you are having a girl, it steals your beauty. So basically, if you are a pretty pregnant person, you are having a boy, and if you look like you got run over by a bus, it is a girl.
C. A friend bases it on what you crave. Sweet things = Girl and Salty things= Boy. Something about citrus too.
D. Another friend thinks that I instinctively know what it is. (I actually don't have a feeling either way) So she says based on what nursery theme you gravitate towards, or fabric choices you lean towards.
So here are the results
A. Girl
B. Boy (thank god I don't look like I got run over by a bus)
C. Girl based on what I crave, but my friend is thinking boy.
D. Boy
RESULTS: Inconclusive... I guess we will have to wait until March 31st!
